Welcome to the Introduction to openEHR Clinical Modelling course! This course has been developed in collaboration between Rosaldo Oy and freshEHR Clinical Informatics Ltd. The course content has been prepared by Dr Ian McNicoll, Heidi Koikkalainen, and David Jobling—all of whom also serve as your course facilitators. Ian, Director of freshEHR, brings over 30 years of experience in health informatics, while Heidi and David have been working as openEHR clinical modellers since early 2020. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a certificate to recognise your achievement.

Introduction to openEHR Clinical Modelling Overview
This practical, self-paced course is designed to introduce health and care professionals, informaticians, and digital teams to the fundamentals of clinical modelling with openEHR. Developed by openEHR experts at freshEHR Clinical Informatics Ltd in collaboration with Rosaldo Oy, the course equips learners with the knowledge and skills to create high-quality, reusable clinical content using openEHR archetypes and templates.
You’ll learn how to:
- Understand the structure and purpose of openEHR models
- Use tools like the Clinical Knowledge Manager (CKM) and Archetype Designer
- Collaborate effectively across clinical and technical teams
- Build safe, scalable and semantically rich data models
